Donation for a better world - The 1% Model

RapidiOnline has embraced this simple idea to Donate 1% of RapidiOnline's resources to support organisations that are working to make our world a better place.

From 2010 until today we have been donating 1% of our total Turnover to different organisations that we think do a fantastic job in contributing to a better world. These are organisations like Red Cross, Doctors without BordersShelterbox , Childfund , Rainforest Alliance etc. Furthermore we are also donating 1% of our time to different projects - mainly helping out in projects organised by The Rotary Club International

The Red Cross is a volunteer-led humanitarian organisation that helps people in crisis, whoever and wherever they are. We enable vulnerable people at home and overseas to prepare for and respond to emergencies in their own communities. And when the crisis is over, we help people recover and move on with their lives.

Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international medical humanitarian organization created by doctors and journalists in France in 1971. MSF provides aid in nearly 60 countries to people whose survival is threatened by violence, neglect, or catastrophe, primarily due to armed conflict, epidemics, malnutrition, exclusion from health care, or natural disasters.

Un Enfant Par la Main (ChildFund Alliance), whose mission is to support children and families in the poorest through child sponsorship and implementation of micro-projects, working closely with three members of the ChildFund Alliance network: ChildFund International (United USA), Australia and ChildFund BØRNEfonden (Denmark). provides emergency shelter and lifesaving supplies for families around the world who are affected by disasters at the time when they need it the most. See the Shelterbox presentation video

Rotary International is the world's first service club organization, with more than 1.2 million members in 33,000 clubs worldwide. Rotary club members are volunteers who work locally, regionally, and internationally to combat hunger, improve health and sanitation, provide education and job training, promote peace, and eradicate polio under the motto Service Above Self.

Donation instead of Christmas Cards

The last couple of years we chose to support different organisations with the amount that we normally would spent on sending out Christmas Cards.

In 2008 we bought a piece of Rainforest through Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation (BOS) - contributing to saving the rainforest and the habitat of the Orangutans.

The Borneo Orangutan Survival (BOS) Foundation is the largest primate rescue project in the world, with nearly 1000 orangutans in its care. BOS actively rescues wild orangutans from oil-palm plantations, as well as rehabilitating orphaned orangutans, displaced as a result of the relentless devastation of their habitat to clear land for palm oil production. BOS is committed to protecting the orangutan and its rainforest habitat, and relies entirely on donations to achieve this.

In 2009 we donated the amount to the Rainforest Alliance - contributing to saving the rainforest and stop global warming.

The Rainforest Alliance works to conserve biodiversity and ensure sustainable livelihoods by transforming land-use practices, business practices and consumer behavior.

From 2012 on we have been sponsor for 2 Children through ChildFund.
