Data Integration for IT Managers

The CRM and the ERP are held together by custom code, and you may be the only person who understands it. Rapidi replaces that code with transfers configured on screen, with error alerts, and supported by the people who built it.

What keeps landing on IT

Every department wants a connection. The team maintaining them stays the same size.

  • The integration is custom code, and you are the only person who understands it.
  • Adding one field means a developer, a change request and a wait.
  • A transfer stops quietly, and you hear about it from a user.
  • The ERP runs on your own servers, and nobody wants to open inbound firewall ports.
  • An ERP upgrade or migration means rebuilding the integration.
  • A system you need is not on any vendor's list.

What Rapidi does for IT

Integration, replication and migration, set up on screen instead of written as code.

Configured, not coded

Start from the template for your pair and adapt the transfers on screen, field by field. One click reads the database design, so every table and field is available for mapping.

Any REST API

If a system has a REST API, Rapidi can usually connect to it. It learns the objects and fields from a JSON Schema or Swagger 2.0 description.

On-premise without inbound ports

RapidiConnector, a small Windows service inside your network, opens an outbound, TLS encrypted connection to the Rapidi cloud service. No inbound ports, no fixed IP address.

Only changed data moves

Timestamps act as source control where tables carry them, and Mirror technology moves only new or modified data where they do not.

Errors you can find

When a transfer fails, Rapidi logs the error and emails you the message with a direct link to it. You set the rules for how and when you are told.

Replication and migration

Rapidi Replicator keeps several Dynamics databases in step, and a migration moves data with the relationships between records intact.

Security and hosting

The questions an IT team asks first, answered from the Rapidi documentation.

  • Outbound only. RapidiConnector connects out to the Rapidi service. You allow outbound traffic on port 80 and the service port shown in MyRapidi.
  • Encrypted in transit. TLS 1.2 or TLS 1.3, and the data is compressed on the way.
  • No customer data stored. No customer data is stored on Rapidi servers, unless you choose a centrally hosted mirror.
  • Where it runs. Rapidi is hosted on AWS, in the EU Frankfurt region or the US West Oregon region.
  • Credentials protected. Stored credentials are encrypted with a key kept separate per customer.
  • Visible connectors. The MyRapidi dashboard shows every connected RapidiConnector, the IP address it connects from and its version.
  • Priced per plan. Rapidi is priced per subscription plan rather than per connector, so connecting another system does not change the licence.

Three steps, no developer

  1. Connect. Choose the CRM and the ERP you want to integrate.
  2. Configure. Start from the template for your pair and adapt the transfers on screen, field by field.
  3. Sync. Transfers run on the schedule you set, and you are told when one hits an error.

IT teams using Rapidi

From a vendor-coded XML link to fields IT adds itself

KTBLACK moved pay data from Salesforce to Dynamics GP over an XML process where every new field needed the vendor to write code. With Rapidi, its own IT staff add fields, and a failed record is isolated and fixed in minutes.

A small IT team and an older NAV

The Ken Blanchard Companies keeps customer data consistent between an older on-site Dynamics NAV and Salesforce, with no custom programming on its side and no daily minding.

Change detection without code in AX

ReadSoft uses Mirror to detect changes in Dynamics AX and move only those, at intervals down to five minutes, across subsidiaries in 17 countries, with no extra programming inside AX.

A failed first connector, replaced

Expedeon's earlier NAV to Salesforce connector was too complicated and too expensive to maintain. With Rapidi, errors are reported once or twice a week, usually data entry errors, and the dashboard shows where to fix them.

In their own words

“When a transfer fails, perhaps because someone entered a date as 2218 instead of 2018, it is easy to isolate the record in question, fix it within minutes, and have the synchronization process continue.”

Isaac Veliz
IT Specialist, KTBLACK

“We have a very small IT department supporting a very large global organization, so we really need to have robust systems that integrate directly and that don’t need a lot of care and maintenance on our end and can run autonomously.”

Eric Clay
Information Technology Director, The Ken Blanchard Companies

“You might be tempted to develop such an integration solution in-house, but you will not save time or money. It actually saves costs and headaches in the long term to take advantage of the experts.”

Kittiphat Chanthong
CRM Manager, Expedeon

Frequently asked questions

Can we connect Salesforce or HubSpot to Dynamics without writing code?

Yes. Rapidi publishes templates for the common CRM and ERP pairs. You start from the template and adapt the transfers on screen, and any other table, standard or custom, can be added in any direction.

How much work is it for my team?

Transfers are set up on screen, not written as code, starting from the template for your pair. For an on-premise system, your team installs RapidiConnector once, on a server next to that system.

Do we have to open inbound firewall ports for an on-premise ERP?

No. The connection from RapidiConnector is outbound only. You allow outbound traffic on port 80 and on the service port shown in MyRapidi. No inbound ports and no fixed IP address are needed.

Is our data stored in the Rapidi cloud?

No customer data is stored on Rapidi servers. The one exception is the Rapidi Mirror Technology, if you choose a centrally hosted mirror. Rapidi is hosted on AWS in the EU Frankfurt or US West Oregon region.

What happens when a transfer fails?

Rapidi logs the error and emails you the message with a direct link to it, and you set the rules for how and when you are told. The log records every schedule and transfer without holding customer data.

Can Rapidi connect a system that is not on the connector list?

Usually, if the system offers a REST web service. Rapidi reaches it through the generic REST Web Service connection. Some additional setup might be needed, so tell us which service you plan to use and for what.

How is RapidiConnector kept up to date?

Upgrade it when Rapidi support advises. Support can normally upgrade it remotely, and the protocol is backward compatible, so an older connector keeps working with a newer central service.

Does connecting another system cost more?

No. Rapidi is priced per subscription plan rather than per connector, so connecting another system does not change the licence.
